The story of an Aspin who was just days from being euthanized is a story worth telling and sharing.

Felicia was rescued by the Aklan Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. Together with PAWS (Philippines Animal Welfare Society), Felicia spent months in recovery from blood infections and with the help of the veterinary team, caretakers and volunteers who supported her journey to recovery, Felicia got better.

While being treated for various blood infections, Katie from Massachusetts had expressed intention in adopting Felicia.

From the Philippines to the United States of America. From Aklan to Massachusetts. Now, that was a tall order.

Katie needs to wait awhile for Felicia to even respond to the treatment and fully recover, get vaccinated with essential vaccines for travel and of course, who would shoulder the travel itself?

It wasn’t an overnight story. From responding to treatment, to recovery, to rehabilitation, to completing travel documents was no ordinary feat.

As they always say, if there’s a will, there’s a way and PAWS together with Bow House found that way to give Felicia a new chance at life and living it well.

By posting a call for help, someone listened and you can call it PR or whatever description one may envision, to me, it was more than the extraordinary. Philippine Airlines heeded that call and reached out to Bow House informing them that they were flying Felicia to her new home – for free.

Her journey has been followed and liked and shared over social media hundreds of thousands of times.

But it’s not just a story about a stray saved. Or a story about how an airline made a dream come true. It was a tale of hope and love for rescued animals who once roamed the sordid streets for scraps in order to survive, and get a second chance at being cared for and loved in their lifetime.

Felicia is the embodiment of hope among those whom we have lost along the way, but has found a forever home because someone out there reached out to say – I care.
